When is the best time to vacation in OC.

It all depends on what you like to do, how old you are, if you have kids, etc...
My fav is September:Most kids are gone, weather is great, less uptight people in town (Mostly owners and young families)
Looking for some action: July and August, town is hopping, lots of stuff to do, lots of traffic!!!
Love to fish: October and November it the big bite for the Rockfish!!! Stuff is still open and discounted prices for golfing.
Got lots of Kids: August is best. Come with the rest of the families and get that last boost before school starts. Great swimming, entertainment, etc. Beware, the end of August it seems like a lot of the Summer restaurant workers are sick of tourists... especially the non tipping type!!!
