I live near Baltimore, how long would it take to drive to OC (and back) for the day on a Monday in July?

Have family in town for one day that wants to see the town, but I'm not sure how much of a drive I can stand....looking at 7/28

It is usually about 2 and a half hours to drive one way depending where you are are at.
