Is it reasonable to launch a kayak from the ramp at Ocean City Commercial Harbor on Sunset Ave.?

I'm concerned about current after leaving the harbor and boat traffic. I’d like to paddle to Assateague Island.

I've done it countless times. Boat speeds are slow. The current is not. Just be prepared to paddle. :)

I've been out with several inexperienced Kayakers and crossed the jetty without problem. If your planning on surfing some waves you'll have to land your boat before the jetty starts and drag it 100 yards through the sand to the beach. You don't want to try and paddle around the jetty.

there will be ocean kayak rentals from the beach at Assateague State Park this season.
